Standing seam is the premium metal roof: panels lock together at raised seams and fasten to the deck with hidden clips or a nail-strip flange, so no screws penetrate the panel face. Snap-lock panels need no seaming tool and the Nail Strip panels are fastened through a flange. That means no exposed screws to back out or need resealing, though seams, trim and penetrations still need proper detailing. Clip-held (floating) systems can also move with Florida's heat better than through-fastened panels; nail-strip panels are fastened through a slotted flange with the screws left not fully tightened, so they can still expand.
