Completing Your Metal Roof System in Tampa
The ridge cap is the single most critical component of a metal roofing system's weather resistance. Every roof panel converges at the ridge, creating a joint that Florida's torrential summer rainfall will find and exploit if the cap is improperly installed, undersized for the rib height, or made from inferior material that fails before the panels beneath it.
FL Sheet Metal's ridge caps are manufactured from the same steel substrate as our panels — 26 or 29 gauge ASTM A792 steel with either AZ50 Galvalume or a 70% PVDF painted finish. The cap is formed to a 90-degree included angle standard, with 6-inch legs on each side to provide adequate overlap onto the panel surface while still sealing effectively against Florida's wind-driven rain. For non-standard pitches — particularly low-slope roofs with 2:12 or 3:12 pitch — we can discuss cap leg modifications that improve fit.
Color matching is straightforward: every color in our 13-color panel palette is available in the ridge cap profile. When you place your panel order, simply add the same color ridge cap to your list. The $60-per-10-foot-section price is the same for all colors and both gauge options — no upcharge for painted caps. For a typical 40-foot-wide gable barn, you'll need 4 sections plus 1 for waste, totaling $300 for a complete ridge system that will outlast the structure underneath it.
