Exposed Fastener Metal Roof Panels

PBR Panel

36" Coverage · Purlin-Bearing Rib · 26 & 24 Gauge

PBR is the panel metal building erectors reach for first. It has the same 36" coverage and 1-1/4" ribs 12" apart as R Panel, plus a purlin-bearing leg at each lap that sits flat on the purlin. That leg gives more bearing area where panels overlap and a tighter, stronger connection across the whole roof.

About this panel

Built for metal buildings

Commercial to agricultural

Warehouses, shops, retail additions, barns, pole buildings and equipment sheds all run on PBR. The 36" sheet covers a lot of roof per cut, and the same panel works as wall cladding.

Two gauges

Choose 26 gauge for most buildings, or step up to 24 gauge for longer purlin spans. 26 gauge comes in bare Galvalume or painted colors; 24 gauge comes in bare Galvalume. Both gauges are also available in Kynar 500.

FAQ

PBR Panel questions

What does PBR stand for in PBR Panel?
PBR stands for Purlin-Bearing Rib. PBR has the same 36-inch coverage and the same 1-1/4 in ribs 12 inches apart as R Panel, plus an extra leg along the side lap that sits flat on the purlin, giving a stronger, tighter overlap on open framing.
Is PBR Panel the same as R Panel?
They have the same 36-inch coverage and the same rib layout, with tall ribs every 12 inches. The difference is that PBR has the extra purlin-bearing leg at the lap. Both suit barns and pole buildings. Neither is made only for solid decking; both go over purlins or a solid deck depending on the building and the panel's approval.
What is the minimum pitch for PBR Panel?
Minimum slope is 3:12 without side-lap sealant and 1/2:12 with continuous lap sealant. Below 3:12 you need continuous butyl tape down each side lap and lap screws (no more than 30 in on center), installed to the panel's approval. Above 3:12 lap screws and butyl are optional. Call us before ordering for any roof under 3:12.
Does PBR Panel meet Florida Building Code requirements?
Yes. PBR Panel is Florida Product Approved. Call (813) 410-7427 for the approval documentation for your permit. Permits need the product installed to its approval.
Can PBR be used for residential roofing in Tampa?
Absolutely. PBR is widely used for residential garages, pole barns, and re-roofing projects in Tampa and surrounding Hillsborough County communities. Check with your local building department for any residential-specific requirements.
